American Sucks!

Well this past weekend I was in Chicago visiting my brother and sister-in-law. The weekend was good but as you can tell from the title this post is about my fun flight coming home. For starters my dad for some mystical reason that ordinary man can't understand decided that rather then booking me home on a direct flight he decided to give me a nice little stop over at LaGuardia instead. Not such a big deal. Under normal circumstances it would only add an extra hour and a half to my travel time. So I get to O'hare and I had decided that I was gonna try and get bumped seeing as my day was already shot what would waiting an extra hour or two do. Plus they may be able to bump me to a direct flight. So I go up and volunteer and am offered $250 in credit plus a ticket on the next direct flight to Boston. This is probably one of the few cases getting bumped would get someone home earlier. I was sure I was gonna get bumped. For some reason all the flights to LaGuardia from the night before had been cancelled and there were tons of people waiting to get home. Everyone around was waiting to get on the flight. Then they call out my name and hand me a boarding pass for that flight. Obviously getting these people who were waiting around since the night before home wasn't worth $250. So I got a first class ticket as consolation which was pretty sweet.

My voyage then took off for LaGuardia where I was due to catch a connecting flight to Boston at 3:00. So I get to the gate around 2:30 which is boarding time and there is no plane waiting. They say there are mechanical issues and that a decision will be made at 3:30. 3:30 comes and the decision is to wait some more. And wait I did. Finally at 4:50 the decision is made to cancel the 5 PM flight. At this point I go and ask what happened to my flight. I was told that we were waiting on a decision and it would be here at 4:45 which at that point had been 10 minutes earlier. I am told to wait some more. Eventually the 7 PM flight is cancelled while the 6 PM flight is delayed to 6:30. Around 6 a plane pulls in and we are informed that they are now boarding the 6 PM flight. At this point I go up to the desk and unload on the attendant and demand to get switched to another airline. She kindly obliges. They stick me on the 8:30 delta and I go standby for the 7:30. After getting raped at security again (I got flagged) when I changed terminals I manage to get cleared for the 7:30 flight and get on my merry way a mere 4 and a half hours behind schedule. When I get home I check to see what became of my American flight and to my delight it didn't end up taking off till 8 PM.

Side Rants

-wow that post was Tonny sized!

-Yanks back in first baby!

-And now a headline from People magazine for Elana's benefit (my blog isn't interesting enough):
Sienna Takes Off Jude's Ring
The actress wasn't wearing her flashy engagement bauble after Law admitted he had an affair.
isn't that earth shattering?

-People keep telling me to comment on my hit counter but I feel that's not my style. You can check it yourself.

All Side Rants!!!

Nothing big to write about so time for an all Side Rants edition of Dani's Rant!!! (after all people tell me that's the best part.)

Side Rants

-Starting this week I'm all alone at the Beth El office so come visit. I'm there between 9:30 and 1:30 and Wednesday there is a bris so there may be leftover food to be had!

-I had my first run to Krispy Kreme since being back in the US tonight. Rumor had been that they lost their Hasgacha but it was right there handwritten on a paper napkin! (sarcasm for those who can't tell. Only in Boston do people fuss over the validity of a hechsher on KK cuz Bostonians, unlike New Yorkers, like the doughnuts pork filled! (more sarcasm))

-I'm too sarcastic. Tonight I actually convinced some friends that I didn't know where the phrase "melts in your mouth not in your hand" comes from. And they wouldn't believe me when I said I was being sarcastic!

-valuable prizes for anyone who can tell me what the phrase "I'll bet you dollars to doughnuts" means. My friends think I made it up.

-I've decided I need a younger brother to torment Shif. After watching Gila's brothers at work this afternoon I decided that I need someone like them to keep Shif in line while I'm away.

-Best game ever!!! New link on the right-------------------------------------> www.iSketch.net. It's essentially an online game of pictionary but it's so addictive! Look for me playing. My screen name is danib62.

-The blogger composition editor sucks!!!

-Going to Chicago next Shabbos so don't come looking for me.

-One more thing that's bugging me and I know I'm gonna get flack for it but a lot of people share my opinon on this but feel to bad to say it: my blog isn't your bulletin board. If you have something important you want to share you can e-mail it to me and I can decide to include it in a future post. I find it rude to post comments that have nothing to do with the post that it is commenting on and just has something the poster wants to get out to the world. Also just for future reference: I don't pray specificly for cholim I don't know. If I were to start doing this I would be davening 24/7. These people are covered by when I say Kol Cholei Yisroel. Many other people share this practice with me.

-Oh and happy birthday Hyim. I got you a new post for your birthday cuz I know how much you love reading this!

I can't wait till the first mailing (they better have an old lady squad like YI)!

Side Rants
